COVID- 19 OPERATIONS NOTICE

 
  • Dress for Success Honolulu onsite services will be closed to the public until further notice, in compliance with the latest local government orders.

  • We will NOT be accepting clothing donations until Monday, November 2, 2020. We need to have time for volunteers to return and new space to be made. Thanks so much for your patience.

  • Dress for Success Honolulu will still be offering the following virtual services to clients and partner agencies: business attire, job readiness training, job coaching, e-learning sessions, the monthly financial literacy workshop and Professional Women’s group.

Dress for Success programs

YWCA O‘ahu offers five programs from the Dress for Success Virtual Career Center:

  • E-SUITING
    Business attire one-hour appointment (*see “makana” below)

  • E-LEARNING
    For career development at home through 4,500 Skillport training sessions from Robert Half International.

  • ONE-ON-ONE JOB COACHING (one-hour appointments)

    • Resumes

    • Interviewing skills

  • MOVING FORWARD
    Job readiness and job training program

  • MONEY SUCCESS

    A monthly 4-hour financial literacy workshop

  • PROFESSIONAL WOMEN’S GROUP (PWG) SISTER CIRCLE

    A monthly interactive session led by a guest speaker in the areas of education, finances, housing, personal development, health and wellness, and professional development.

All of these appointments are virtual. Call (808) 695-2617 for an appointment and/or questions.

We will return to in-person services as soon as it is safe.

Makana is a Dress for Success Confidence Gift of business attire. COVID-19 preempts trying clothing on. Personal Shoppers will do their best, with client input, to select a complete outfit or two.

Donations

Thank you for choosing to donate your clothing to Dress for Success Honolulu at YWCA O‘ahu. Your donation gives much confidence and hope to the unemployed women we serve. More casual clothing and overstock items may need to be sold, but 100% of the proceeds will go to support Dress for Success programs.

Because of the recent “Stay-at-Home” order for O‘ahu, we will NOT be accepting donations until Monday, November 2, 2020. We need to have time for volunteers to return and new space to be made. Thanks so much for your patience.

We will provide updates on when we will be able to receive donations upon reopening.

Civic engagement is a priority at Dress for Success Worldwide, and in a year where we celebrate 100 years of suffrage for women in the U.S., we are proud about Dress for Success’ partnership with When We All Vote, a non-profit, nonpartisan organization (co-chaired by Michelle Obama) that is on a mission to increase participation in every election and help close the race and age voting gap.

Learn About and Grow 21st Century Skills with SThree

Tuesday, October 27, 2020 | 12 p.m. EST | 11 p.m. CST | 9 a.m. PST | 6 a.m. HST

To be leaders in the future world of work, women will need to have 21st century skills. SThree is a leading, global staffing company focused on science and technology. In this workshop, hear from members of the SThree team from the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States. They will define the 21st Century skills you need to be competitive and teach how you can develop these skills and incorporate them into your job seeker profile. During this 90-minute workshop, participants will have the chance to join one of five breakout rooms for a closer look at 21st century skills including: 1. Personal Branding ; 2. Growth Mindset; 3. Effective Communication; 4. Persuasion and Negotiation; 5. Critical Thinking and Problem Solving

We invite you to join ULTA Beauty and Dress for Success for a special virtual beauty consultation workshop, designed to share basic health and skin practices to help you show off your confidence with glowing beautiful skin. Whether you are a job seeker doing virtual interviews or an employed professional in more video meetings, this workshop can help you put your best skin forward with routing skin care to keep you looking and feeling your best.

  • Volunteer as a personal shopper, job coach, expert speaker, computer tutor and more. (NOTE: Due to COVID-19, volunteer recruitment is temporarily on hold. Please check back here for updates.)

  • Become a partner referral agency to help women achieve economic independence.

  • Donate gently used women's business apparel, shoes, unused makeup or underwear, and accessories such as handbags, scarves and jewelry.

  • Attend the Monthly Benefit Clothing Sale at YWCA Laniākea. (Our monthly sales have been suspended due to COVID-19. Please check back here for updates.)

  • Give a monetary donation to support our programs and services.
